What is the list of vegetables?
Asparagus, broccoli, spinach
Asparagus, broccoli, spinach are what we recommend.
What about sweet potato, red potato, and carrot? lol
All of those are good but they will add more mass to your physique. Heavier carbohydrate source.
It only showed broccoli.
We use broccoli, spinach and asparagus as veggies
Found a rice cooker, and it is a vegetable steamer. It was only about $30, and does double work. When I cook my rice, I cook the vegies.
Wow that is cool! I bet that saves some time.
You can put the vegetables in a tupperware or bowl with a quarter inch of water on the bottom with a little salt and pepper and seasoning with plastic wrap over the top and put it in the microwave for a couple minutes. Done perfect, fresh and delicious.
any other vegetable? dont like them all 😛
We use carrots, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower and green beans. It would be a great idea to start making yourself at least tolerate vegetables, cmon your a big boy now! lol
i steam veggies for about 3 or 4min max. i keep them very crispy because all the nutrients go away if cooked too long. like you said they’ll be cooked even more when reheated
That sounds like a great idea. Keep up the good work!
What about frozen broccoli and spinach? I find my stores sells them in bulk in backs that are flash frozen and boil them normally with my other meals. So I guess i’m asking if it is advisable to boil the broccoli in place of steaming it for about 2-3mins or just starts getting soft? How do you normally cook your spinach for these meals? I was also wondering if I could use the frozen spinach with the oatmeal and 2 eggs you were talking about for breakfast also? How much spinach do you normally put in that as well?
Good question. The spinach you are talking about is an okay choice but i feel that the spinach with the best nutritional value is to buy the bagged fresh non frozen kind. It does not keep as long but i feel when you freeze a lot of veggies that you lose some nutritional value. With the eggs i put in a handful of spinach just enough where it goes well with the eggs and does not dominate the flavor.
Men’s Health Big Book of Nutrition says that frozen vegetables are your next best option to fresh out of the ground because the flash freezing process locks in nutrients. Not to debate your knowledge, just sharing what I have read.
That’s cool thanks for the tip.
You indicate to use a fist and a half for the portion size for protein (meat, chicken, etc.) What is the portion size for vegtables and carbohydrates in a meal? Is it also a fist and a half for these items as well? Thanks.
Yes you are correct. Train hard my friend!
Hey mike I was reading questions others asked bout the spinach so doci cook it with eggs at the same pan.?
Also does the rule for fist and half count for ever meal you eat?
You also mentioned to stay away from sauces because of starch I marinate my chicken then cook in grill should I not do that
Yes cook the spinach lightly in with the eggs.
Yes every meal should be that portion size.
We use sauces once in a while to spice things up. It’s fine once in a while.
When you mention each portion size as 1 and a half fists is that protein and carbs combined?
Or 1 and a half fists of both protein and carbs, equalling three fists for every meal?
That is everything combined and mashed up. Protein, carbs and veggies
Is corn good to eat?
I want a good way to grill asparagus, what do you do with it??
I would just fire up the grill and lay them on there for about 3-4 minutes each side or until you see fit.
